My Music Blog Catchup
Good grief, music blogging is whole different animal from fiction writing! As the end of the year approaches, I've needed to pen (more than) a few posts to bring my blog up to current day. While I basically knew which topics I needed to tackle, my initial step was shaky. I'm not satisfied with that first post, but there's no time. No time, I tell ya! I've gotta keep moving.
In two days I've managed to vomit out three posts, one of which I started on the 17th. That's hardly prolific. My posts regularly features music videos, which required many starts and stops. I love YouTube, but it's only as good as the videos people upload, and there's some really low quality offerings. (And let me just say, I hate the ones with song lyrics overlayed. Are we supposed to stand up and perform karaoke? That's not what I'm aiming for.)
My writing method is off-the-cuff, which tends to work out for me, but in trying to write a tribute to one artist who passed away, I fumbled it pretty badly. I don't know why. I use the personal approach--writing about how the artist's music affected me--because I'm not a journalist, and this is the only way I can do it. Maybe I just wasn't in the right head space with that post.
The other two posts were better, likely because I managed to loosen up. I've still got a biggie to write, which I started back in August (!). I'm going to scrap that draft and start over. Then probably one additional timely topic and that'll be it...for now.
So, here's my output:
Artists Who Passed Away in 2025 ~ Did Anyone Notice?
I give myself a C+, grading on a curve.
And today, I continue...
