Adding Editorial Reviews to Your Amazon Book Page
I've only ever gotten one editorial review in the past (for Shadow Song), and I didn't have to think about where to post it on Amazon, because the reviewer posted her own review right on the book page. When I received my first editorial review for Running From Herself, it was easy enough to find where to enter it.
(In case you don't know):
1. Pull up your Amazon Author Central page.
2. Click on the "Books" tab at the top, then choose the appropriate book.
3. Then click "Edit book details". (Ensure you're selecting the correct marketplace.)
4. You'll see an "Add Review" button. Click on it, paste in the review, then make sure you preview it before you publish.
Disregard all the stupid instructions, such as:
text for boldtext for italics
for a line break

Item

for bulleted listsI mean, seriously? Know how messed up my review(s) would look if I tried inserting that stuff and left out a > or a
? I'm not a damn coder! I'm an author!
If you want something bolded or italicized, copy the review into Word and do it there. Then paste it in.
So, I pasted that first review in, double-checked it and found that the paragraphs didn't have spaces between them, so I went back and fixed that. My review posted just fine.
Now as of yesterday, I've got a second editorial review, which I naturally wanted to add. Well, guess what? For Kindle books, there's only a space to add one. Why are ebooks being discriminated against? You, Amazon, are the creator of the Kindle e-reader!
But, of course, you can add more than one review in that one space, so okay. Just make sure there's a delineation between each review, by bolding the reviewer's name and publication and by leaving space between each review.
Paperbacks are more user friendly. I don't know how many editorial reviews one can add for a paperback, but I know at least two for sure.
I'm not the most trusting person when it comes to techie stuff, so I checked back today, and everything looks fine. (Be sure to check both your ebook and paperback pages.) Running From Herself doesn't have an audiobook version, but I checked under my books that do, and yes, you can add editorial reviews to those, too.
I was only able to add my reviews to the Amazon US site, unfortunately. It would be nice to publicize my book in other countries as well. Alas.
P.S. A+ Content doesn't carry over, either.
I can't foresee ever having to repeat this exercise. I'm not writing anymore, and a new editorial review for Running From Herself isn't going to fall from the heavens. I'm grateful, though, that I've gotten two (thanks to my persistence, I must say).
And now on to...something else. Not sure what.
