My Week...So Far
I laid out my misadventures with book bloggers in this post from yesterday, but I now need to add an update. To recap, when the blogger who "loved" my article sent an email announcing yet another newly-published edition of one of her two magazines, I'd had it. I've waited for months for my much-needed publicity, and it just wasn't forthcoming.
So, I sent a friendly question, asking if she still intended to include my article in an upcoming edition. I thought this was a normal email correspondence, but no. My question landed on her website as a comment. (What the hell?) My first bout of puzzlement was when I received an email notification, stating that (name withheld) "liked" my comment, I thought, what comment? I've visited her blog before, but I never commented on anything. A follow-up email announced that she had replied. So, of course I followed the link, and yea, my dirty laundry was posted on her site for all to see. She had essentially replied, "Of course. You should have gotten a notification as to which edition it would be included in."
Well, NO, I sure as hell didn't. I'd remember something like that. Beyond embarrassment by this point, I replied to her reply (again, on her actual blog) that I hadn't. Now I have a new email, instructing me to contact her team. I didn't even know she had a team, but okay, semantics and all that. I'm sure, since again, this is published on her website, that she wants to give the illusion of having a team.
Fiasco.
Whatever. What's done is done. I don't even care anymore, except for my newfound reputation as a whiny pest for all her website visitors to see.
On to more uplifting subjects. You've seen my two new book covers that I proudly designed myself. Feeling over-confident, I started searching for a Pixabay image for another of my books. This time it wasn't so easy. I've only found one image so far, and that one is kind of "out there", so I probably won't use it. I just need to hit upon the right search terms, which I obviously haven't yet. The most difficult aspect of my new cover design revelation is knowing what to search for.
This diversion is one of the reasons I haven't gotten to work on my anthology. Like my cat, I tend to get distracted by shiny objects.
And that about sums up my week. I'm still boycotting social media and I don't miss it. I may never go back. The two out of three promos that ran when they were supposed to (thanks a bunch, LitRing, for messing up) resulted in zero sales and zero KU reads, so yay for me. There goes my old dependable $3.19 royalty check.
Today I will attempt to accomplish something. No promises.
