Trying to be Patient
I know my cover isn't the only one Miblart's artists are working on, but I'm past ready to see the revisions. (Current time in Kiev is 2:46 p.m., so there's not much left of their workday.)
I received my initial cover concept on August 11, which was only four days ago, but now the weekend is upon us, so my requested changes won't be forthcoming until Monday at the earliest.
It's ironic that for five months I was perfectly fine with my crappy homemade cover, and now that I've made the leap to purchasing a professional design, I'm antsy. I think what it boils down to is, I realize I wasted the most important selling phase, the new release period. I'm very disappointed in myself. New author tip: Don't blow it. You may not get another chance.
My thought process at the time was that I could make a cover that would, combined with a good blurb, produce sales. But the biggest factor was money. Because none of my previous books sold more than a handful of copies, I couldn't justify blowing up my meager budget. Yes, it's a Catch-22. Bad cover = no sales. Good cover = maybe some sales, but not enough to recoup the expense.
I'm not giving up...yet. As I wrote in a previous post, once my cover is finalized, I'll approach marketing as if the novel was just released. All new! (cover, that is.) Except I'll be conservative this time. All you loser promo sites ~ you're out! You severely let me down. And took my money. My new mantra is, pick one option and one option only.
I just don't know how I'm going to fill my time 'til I can put that mantra to use.
