What's With All the Links, You Ask
"Based on your blog content, Blogger will automatically identify key words and phrases in your post and insert Search links in case your readers want to explore more."
If you begin to see random links in my posts, it's not me! My links are the intentional, logical ones, like links to my book(s) or to articles I'm recommending. Blogger has a new beta feature, which it thinks helps stupid people who don't understand the definitions of "hard" words, like "AI" or don't recognize companies, such as "Instagram". I'm trying to remove those unnecessary links when I run across them.
I suppose I get that Blogger is just trying to help posts get seen, by linking to terms that people might search for ~ it's all about SEO, I tell ya! Except it's illogical. Someone searching for Instagram doesn't want to bother with one of my blog posts.
Mind you, a blogger isn't required to utilize this new feature; but like everything, I did want to give it a try, which is why in my previous post you might see some head-scratching links. There's a new "pencil" icon in compose mode that will insert these links when the writer clicks on it. I'm on board with discoverability, but I disagree with Blogger's approach to it. My readers are not stupid. In fact, my readers are damn smart, or they wouldn't be following this blog to begin with. So, no, they don't need every bit of minutia spelled out for them.
There are so many features I wish Blogger would add, and some they've gotten rid of that they need to bring back, that I wish they'd concentrate more on those than on dumb little things. But at least they're trying, which is something they haven't done in ages.
Nevertheless, I felt I needed to explain why some of my posts might look like they were created by a crazy person.
