This Could Be Mine ~ Unfortunately, It's Not
Someone apparently wrote a story with the same theme as mine.

Longlist Votes
A nuanced and riveting plot exploring the complexities of fame and
identity. The characters are brilliant and the narrative arc naturally
develops without trying to cover too much ground to grip the reader. YES
Well, enjoy your 5,000 Euros or whatever the hell that fancy E symbol means. I'm an American, dammit, where we don't use sissy curlicues for money. Money is serious, which is why we don't fool around. $ is what you're probably going for.
And, hey, if your copycat novel is only longlisted, you still get "feedback" on your synopsis. Ooh! Well worth your curlicue 29.99! Shortlistees are bestowed with, again, feedback, but this time on the full novel. The riches are endless!
"Most promising" wins an 18-week course in editing. Hey, Mom, guess what! I won a chance to go to school for four months! Yay! I love school! School is the best!
Just remember, your feedback and/or schooling was made possible by my forty dollars and forty-four cents, so I hope stealing my idea was worth it. Next time, get your own idea and see how far that takes you.
I bet your name is Farquar, Earl of Upper Crunchberry, or something. Surprised you could fit it all on your book cover. If you even have a cover. You probably stole that from me, too, but guess what? My cover reviewer told me mine stinks. So, joke's on you.
Nevertheless, congrats and all that. Enjoy your ill-gotten gains.
You know they don't hand out trophies, right?
P.S. This really irks me, especially in light of my previous post.
"After much careful reading and consideration, we’re sorry to let you
know that your novel wasn’t selected for the longlist this year."
