My Facebook Ad Isn't Really Working
Eleven people clicked on my Facebook ad yesterday, which took them to my novel's landing page on Amazon. No one bought.
On my ad's first day, I got 17 link clicks and 11 purchases. That's a 65% conversion rate; damn good. Yesterday? 11 clicks and 0 purchases. There has to be a reason for the sharp decline. Is my ad presenting to the same people again? Why were so many (relatively) interested the first day, but nobody on the second?
Is it the blurb? People go to the landing page, read the blurb and say, nah? I thought my revamped blurb was pretty good; not perfect, but what blurb is perfect? Did they read the preview and hate it? Well, I'm not changing the opening, obviously, and as for the blurb, even if I chose to again revamp it, I can't take my book offline while the ad is running.
Beginner's luck, maybe? Maybe the first day of any ad is the best. I was feeling pretty good about it after the first day. I thought, well, I finally found something that works. But just like everything else I've tried, it's impossible to move this baby.
I like my ad. The graphics are attractive; the copy isn't overdone. I don't know how I would make it more alluring. I guess I could try something different, just to say I did.
If today goes like yesterday, I'll probably pause or end the ad run completely. Why spend money, even my piddling amount (piddling to some), for no return?
Maybe David Gaughran could tell me what I'm doing wrong. Hang on ~ I'll give him a call. Seriously, do I need to put $2.99 in big red numbers? (Gaughran likes yellow, but he has zero artistic taste; no offense.) I'm just not in a guessing mood. I'm sick with COVID (yea, after five years of not getting it) and I'm grouchy. It sure would be nice to catch a break, just once. Is my book any worse than anyone else's? Maybe it's not better, but it's certainly not worse. And how would anyone even know, if they don't buy it?
I'm feeling disgusted right now. I suppose I should be happy with my $14.00 in royalties and just be done with it.
