My Author Site's Analytics
It struck me today that I haven't assessed whether my frenzy of social media posting has affected my website views. Every post, reel, story, whatever, includes my author website, but have those postings driven any traffic?
It seems they have ~ a little. I'm now averaging around 50 users, but the downside is, the average engagement time is 29 seconds. What's up with that? What can someone see in 29 seconds? And digging deeper, only nine visits have come from Facebook and one (one!) from Instagram, where I spend the majority of my social media time. Someone does like me in Bejing, though. (Thanks, TikTok.)
I would love to have some good news to share...about anything. It wouldn't even have to be sales news. A sense of futility is permeating the air. I keep trying ~ I'm doing another KU promotion through a promo site sometime soon (date currently unknown), and I have my FreeBooksy giveaway coming this Saturday. I put in a damn lot of work just to give my novel away.
I posted a pretty awesome Instagram reel today, which has gotten no notice. I know that social media is an unreliable indicator of success, but I'm tired of being ignored. Am I real? I'm starting to wonder. Maybe I'm a figment of my imagination.
The time is rapidly approaching when I'll give up. While I had no intention of writing again, for sure I have no intention now. What's the point? I've done almost all I'm capable of doing to convince people to buy Running From Herself. Its concept is good, interesting. It has lots of twists and turns. It has the tropes. It has a likable main character. It has tons of interesting supporting players. The novel is the best I could do; the best I could ever do. All my years of writing led to this, and "this" is pretty great.
I can't do any more.
