Changed My Blurb (Yes, Again)
I'm no damn quitter. If my ad and my book blurb didn't jibe, then it was time to change the blurb. Yea, I'm sick of it, believe me.
The original (or second or third attempt, or whatever):
Leah Branch has the thirty-sixth most popular single in the country. And she’s disappeared.
She wasn’t chasing the dream when a record deal found her, but it was her chance to escape heartbreak; make a new start; make up for every mistake she’d made in her life. Except in Nashville, the label proceeds to change her name, remake her image, and force her to record songs she hates. They wanted her; they just wanted a different her. With every compromise, Leah feels herself slipping away.
Then one night she breaks. Stranded on tour in a winter storm with two sketchy musicians and a hopeless manager, once the roads clear, she dumps her companions and flees.
She knows she has to go back. Her last thread of self-respect demands it. She knows her career, barely begun, is over. But she also knows she has a voice, and it’s time to start using it.
Filled with unlikely friendships, unbreakable bonds, heartbreak, and yes, love, Running From Herself is the story of a woman’s journey to find herself.
Fans of Daisy Jones & The Six will be captivated by this poignant exploration of redemption, resilience, and the raw truths of the music industry.
The latest:
When Leah Branch landed in the tiny town of Chance, she decided its name was a good omen. All she really needed was a chance, a chance to build a real life after wasting the last decade singing in local bars, with nothing to show for it but poverty and bitterness. And sure enough, Chance was where she found love. But love slipped through her fingers like quicksilver, and she could no longer bear to stay.
When the record label offer arrives out of the blue, it could be her second fresh start and a chance to mend her broken heart. So she grabs it. But in Nashville, the label doesn’t want her, either. Oh, they want her voice, but not the real Leah. They even change her name. And now she’s stuck. She has to play along to preserve this new life, even if she detests every minute of it. She has nothing left to go back to.
The flamboyant superstar who befriends her offers Leah counsel, but still her frustration boils over. While she is supposed to be on a winter tour, Leah disappears.
Filled with quirky friends, unbreakable bonds, heartbreak, and unrequited love, Running From Herself is the story of Leah’s journey to find herself.

So, let's try that.
