After Two Weeks of Promotion
I'm sick of seeing posts, such as, "I ran a one-day promo on Books4U and got 900 downloads". I'm going to need to start calling BS on these. How does one know that anything posted online is true? The wisest course is to assume that everyone is lying.
While I realize that my novel is competing with five zillion others, am I really the lone loser of the bunch? Does my book image give off bad mojo? Is my blurb written in Sanskrit?
It seems that all some authors need to do is hit "publish" and dollar signs rain down on them like fairy dust. At this point I would be amazed if I could give any copies away.
I'm going to need to settle for three copies sold. I can't see a way to sell more. This is a far worse record than my books that aren't as good (and that I didn't market at all).
The supply of books exceeds the demand. Added to that is the number of books that are given away for free. All a prolific reader would need to do is subscribe to three or four newsletters, and they would be set up with books for life.
I believe I have four more promos left to run, and it'll mercifully be over. This is good! This means I can move on.
