Ignored
At least with my free promotion of Lies and Love last month, I garnered eight downloads. For me, that's a lot. But Bad Blood isn't faring well. By "well", I mean, no one has downloaded it yet. Is it the title or what? I don't think Bad Blood is a bad title. I probably shouldn't have replaced its cover; the original was more intriguing, but it's too late; I can't make changes while the book is on promo.
I chose Bad Blood because it's managed to sell exactly zero copies in its lifetime, and it's a decent book! It's the only one of my books that absolutely no one has purchased. How is that even possible? When I titled it, I liked the alliteration, and "blood" references the fact that the villain is the main character's blood relation ~ plus, he's "bad". I find it hard to believe that people are actually turned off by a villainous brother. That's basically a staple of every TV family drama. I suppose if I end up with no downloads, I'll have to rethink the blurb; leave the villain unspecified.
As for my author site's analytics, they're stuck. I'm not getting any new visitors and my engagement time hasn't increased. It just now occurred to me that when I advertised a book giveaway on my site, I did it via an embedded entry form, but I have no idea where the entries landed, if there even were any. MailerLite tells me that 35 people "viewed" the entry form, but I had assumed any entries would populate on MailerLite's site; none did. Could it be that the entry form was a dead end? Well, that's kind of sucky. I didn't mind buying three copies to give away, but I have no one to give them to. MailerLite's help page isn't helpful, and I feel dumb emailing them about something I should be able to figure out on my own.
Speaking of analytics, weirdly, THIS blog's average engagement time is one hour. I think that one hour consists of me, when I'm writing a new post. Hey, Google ~ don't count me as a visitor!
I haven't felt this ignored since my scammer stopped emailing me. I almost miss the attention.
At least I have my current novel to focus on and try to suss out. At some point it'll need to end, and then I can start over completing revising part one.
But in the meantime, a tiny bit of notice would be appreciated.
